Mr. Abbas Maleki, [the head of the Caspian Sea Studies Institute] came.  He brought the message of [his uncle] Ayatollah [Mohammed] Fadel Lankarani, [from the sources of imitation].  Usually, in cases where they see that I do not take a position on important issues of the country, they do not take a position either and they have asked to be informed of my opinions in such cases.  He also explained about the message given to Mr. Khatami, [the President] regarding the recent bills and also the issue [of the death sentence] of Aghajari, and he had some suggestions regarding the Caspian Sea.

[Ms. Nahid Malkuti], the wife of the missing pilot [Mohammed] Zare Nemati and her son came.  They said, after 22 years, he is still missing and asked me to find a way to determine his fate.  27 Shahrivar 1359, three days before the start of the war, his plane was shot down in Iraq and the plane of another pilot named [Hossein] Lashkari suffered the same fate.  The military pilot was released a few years ago and returned and says that the Iraqi officials showed him Nemati's identification card and asked questions about him.  This is the reason why he is in the hands of the Iraqis.  In addition, Saddam has once said that he has two Iranian pilots whose planes were shot down in Iraq before 31 Shahrivar 1359.  In addition, he spoke on the radio once and for all these reasons, Iraq denies his existence in Iraq.

Controversies and demonstrations continue regarding Mr. [Hashem] Aghajari's sentence.  They insult the leadership and the judiciary;  Even though the leadership has ordered a review of the ruling in response to a collective request from academics, some violent student groups and the Vahdat arbitration board are not giving up and clashes have occurred between them and Basiji students in some universities.
