Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – September 8, 1982

I stayed home and studied. My brother Ahmad and his family, who had met with the Imam along with the employees of the Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine, were our guests. He said that our worker in Nowq did not know what to do regarding how to handle the pistachios we have. I said he could lease them out.

In the afternoon, my nephew Ali Hashemi, who had come from Spain—where he had received some treatment for his eye—spoke about the poor state of our embassy, because the former staff are still there, and about the even worse condition of the counterrevolutionaries, who are displaced, unemployed, and unmotivated. He suggested making foreign propaganda more active and said that unfortunately imperialism has portrayed the Imam and the Revolution as tarnished and harsh, and that we have a great deal of work to do. The ceremony marking the fourth anniversary of the Seventeenth of Shahrivar and the funeral procession for the victims of the Khayyam Street explosion were held with great grandeur, and the Imam also issued a warm message.
