Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – September 7, 1982

Before the public session, I read the reports. Before the agenda, I spoke about the Arab leaders' conference in Fez and yesterday's bomb explosion, and after the session I spoke to the spectators. At noon, a group of representatives came to say goodbye before the Mecca trip. Mr. Amiri from the Revolutionary Guard came and spoke about the case of "Molavi Nazar Mohammad Didgah," the Sunni representative from Iranshahr, and also about his baseless opposition and his cooperation with Ahmad Muftizadeh.

Mr. Khamenei consulted me about sending a message to the King of Saudi Arabia regarding their National Day, in light of the Fez conference and their open support for Iraq. In the afternoon, Mr. Mohammad Ali Shar'i and Mr. Kamelan came and complained about the political-ideological performance of the army. A report arrived from one of the cadets at the Officers' College about a group intending to overthrow the government, and I referred them to Mr. Reyshahri.

Engineer Seyfian, the deputy mayor of Tehran, came and we discussed the location of the Friday Prayer prayer ground building in Abbasabad. Engineer Mansour Razavi, head of the Engineers' Branch of the Party, came and consulted me about accepting the position of head of the State Administrative and Employment Affairs Organization in place of Mr. Abdullah Jasbi, who had been transferred to the Party. I approved it.
