[Mr. Joseph Tunik], Ambassador of Slovenia, [Mr. Al-Mahdi Qutbi], Ambassador of Sudan and [Mr. Damak Lennon], Ambassador of Canada came to present credentials. We had friendly negotiations with them, suitable for each of them. Dr. Velayati and [Alauddin] Borujerdi, [Deputy Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs] and our ambassador in India came. They had suggestions regarding the plan of negotiations with the Prime Minister of India. [Mr. Golzarnia], our new ambassador in Bulgaria came to say goodbye and get opinions. Dr. [Hasan] Habibi came for current affairs.

Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiq Dost, [Chairman of the Mustafafan and Veterans Foundation] and the deputies came. They gave a report on the status of education, culture and employment of veterans and asked for the improvement of services. Mr. [Ali] Shamkhani, [commander of the navy] came. He expressed his dissatisfaction with his job and requested to be transferred to a civilian job. I emphasized that he should stay in the military service.

In the evening, in the meeting of the government board, there was a discussion about the amount of liquidity and bank facilities, which was left unfinished. Ayatollah Khamenei was my guest that night. We discussed the issues of Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Russia, traveling to Central Asia, telephone connection with Mr. Fahd, [King of Saudi Arabia], policies of the second plan, getting our demands from America and radio.
