Early in the morning I went to the Parliament and studied the reports until nine o'clock, most of which were about the results of the Arab leaders' conference. It seems that the Arabs have become willing to tolerate Israel; apart from Libya, no one opposed it, and Saddam was also supported.

[Sheikh As'ad Bayoud Tamimi], the former imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque who was expelled and now lives in Jordan and has influence and supports the Islamic Revolution, came with several others and requested assistance for Muslims on the Palestinian front so that they could come to Iran and receive training. He is thoughtful and well-educated.

Dr. Golshan, a university professor, came seeking help to publish his father's writings, and I referred him to the Office for the Publication of Islamic Culture.

Mr. [Ali] Fallahian, the deputy head of the Central Committee, came and spoke about future plans to combat the counter-revolution. He is an active man. A number of nuclear energy specialists came. I encouraged them to continue their work and assured them that the nuclear energy program would be pursued, explaining its necessity. Mr. [Gholamreza] Aghazadeh, the Minister of State, came and was concerned about disagreements within the cabinet, and we agreed to think of a solution. These days this issue, which is also being discussed in the party and society, is under review within the party. Mr. Ahmadi from the Cultural Revolution Headquarters came and was concerned about the headquarters' weakness and its acceptance of executive responsibility, and asked me for help in solving their problems. It is a problem that must be resolved, because the scope of the rights and duties of the headquarters and the Ministry of Science has begun to overlap.

After resting in the afternoon, a group of Air Force technicians who had succeeded in installing the complex ADS 4 radar came. I encouraged them, and it was decided that they would continue their work. They have accomplished something significant, and the Americans will not believe it. Mr. [Fazlollah] Mahallati came and gave a report on Kurdistan and sought help in resolving the problems of the Movements Unit, and we agreed to hold a meeting. Mr. [Ali] Qaemi, [the representative of Babolsar], came and spoke about the deprivation in the forested region of Babol.
