Today I stayed home as well. Mr. Hamed Algar, a Muslim professor at the University of California, Berkeley, came and conducted an interview. He asked about the performance of the Islamic Republic, about lands and factories, our approach toward Islamic associations and their role, the Mojahedin-e Khalq, the dismissal of Bani-Sadr, and foreign policy. He apparently seems to be a good person, a researcher, and a professor of Islamic and Shiite history.
I spoke with the deputy principal of Jamaran Middle School about transferring the children from Nikan School to here because of security considerations. Mr. Gharazi, the Minister of Oil, also came. We talked about Khark Island, the desirable level of oil exports, laying pipelines to other places as a precaution, his trip to Africa, and the independent African countries' need for us, and he complained about the conduct of some ministers. I officiated the marriage of one of the Revolutionary Guards and gave a gift to his wife.
I read a book that the Imam's Advisory Office [in the Army] had prepared about Iraq's preliminary acts of aggression against Iran before the official start of the war, which documented about three hundred violations along with the text of Iran's protest letter to Iraq on each corresponding date. It contains good evidence for identifying Iraq as the aggressor, and I think it should be published. I spent more time studying. I spoke by phone with Dr. Velayati about the news concerning the Arab summit conference. The Syrian ambassador came and assured me that Syria's policy regarding Iran and Iraq had not changed.
