From ten in the morning until two in the afternoon, we had a meeting of the commission for revising the positions of the [Islamic Republic] Party. At four in the afternoon, Mr. Munir Shafiq, the Palestinian, came. He said that the hopes of the deprived and the mujahideen of the region had been cut off from everyone except the Islamic Revolution, and he emphasized that we should act on what we had said about helping the liberation movements. He proposed establishing a nongovernmental organization to make contact with the liberation movements. Regarding Lebanon, he believed that the Westerners were seeking to partition Lebanon and establish a Phalange state.
Two people from the Military Industries Organization came; they complained about the weakness and mistakes of its managers. These days there is considerable pressure to replace the managers [of the Military Industries Organization]. In the evening, at the office of [Ayatollah] Mr. Khamenei, with the presence of the officials of the three branches, our ambassador to Syria, and the [Foreign] Minister, we had a meeting on the issues of Lebanon. The believers have entered into war with the Lebanese Phalange army. We discussed and made decisions regarding the cohesion of the forces and resolving the dispute between Mr. [Ali Akbar] Mohtashami and Lebanon's Da'wa Party. We also summoned the IRGC officials; to address Mr. [Ali Akbar] Mohtashami's complaint concerning contact with and assistance to the Da'wa Party, which had emboldened them and caused them not to comply with the council. They gave a report on the manner in which Sheikh Abdullah Garrison was seized.
At night, we had a meeting with a group of [members of] the Society of Seminary Teachers [of Qom]. The discussion was aimed at bringing the economic and political positions closer together. Late at night I came home. I spoke with the IRGC commanders about the upcoming operation; apparently the Iraqis are aware of one aspect of it; they have begun following it up.
