Before noon, I discussed with Haj Ahmad Agha about government issues and the Guardian Council's opposition to the bill to intensify punishments for bribery, as well as Mr. Yazdi, the head of the parliamentary Judicial Commission's letter to the Imam regarding a complaint about this opposition, and I sent the letter to the Imam.
In the evening, we were guests of Ahmad Agha along with the heads of the republic, the Supreme Court, and the Prime Minister, and the Imam also participated in our meeting. They expressed happiness over the affectionate remarks of the President and the Prime Minister in the first meeting of the new government. Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei has taken a good stance after the formation of the new cabinet.
We discussed with the Imam the necessity of revising the constitution; he said that currently it is not advisable and we should wait for some time until it can be done under better circumstances. Some attendees were in favor of changing a few principles through a referendum but opposed a complete revision. They said that under current conditions, the new enactment would be weaker than the original constitution. I came home very late. Today, a few industrial and economic points in Iraq were attacked by us, but Iraq did not respond, which is surprising.
