Full text of the diary:
After the fall of Mazar-e-Sharif and the Taliban's admission of defeat against the United Front, other northern provinces were quickly taken over by the United Front, and the United States counted on its success. At night, it was announced that Bamiyan had also been captured by Hazarajat Shiite forces, and now there is a debate over the capture of Kabul. Mullah Omar, [the leader of the Taliban], has declared that the retreats are temporary and defeat is a divine test. [Osama] bin Laden, [the leader of al-Qaeda], has declared that he has nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, and that he will retaliate if the United States uses such weapons.
Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Movahed, the representative of Kohgiluyeh, came with the temporary Friday Imam of Dehdasht. Mr. Mousavi, who is one of the freedmen and has been tortured and veterans in Iraq, called for the establishment of an Islamic Azad University in Dehdasht and complained about the lack of attention of government agencies to their demands.
Mr. [Seyyed Hossein] Mousavian, [an expert of the Supreme National Security Council], came and suggested that I talk to the Supreme Leader to allow me to take advantage of the opportunity of the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan and the need for Iran, but he could not prove his opinion correct because of the ambiguities in the policies and goals of the United States. He said that the Northern Front, which is the product of Iran's efforts and costs, has now become a tool of the United States in Afghanistan, without benefiting Iran. It is possible that the outcome of the war will be for us and the northern front, not for the United States. Pakistan, but if there is no correct strategy, it is what you said.

Considering the possibility of danger to Iran, it was decided that the secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council would investigate and come up with a reasoned proposal. He said that a number of independent personalities and a group of Mr. Khatami's friends, such as Ebad [Mr. Ali Rabi'i], come to him and express their disappointment at Mr. Khatami's success in reforming the country's bad affairs, and emphasize that the right path is the same as in the constructive government and that we must return to it.
Dr. [Ahmadreza] Jalali Naeini came. He presented an analysis with the theme of the failure of the extremists of the right and the left, including Mr. Khatami, to reform the affairs and the right path, the same moderation centered on national interests, development and construction within the framework of Islam, which was pursued during the period of the constructive government, and said, "Many of the country's fair scholars expect you to take action to prevent the deterioration of the country's affairs."
In the evening, Mr. Masoud Karbasian, the head of the General Customs Department, came. He spoke of the turmoil in the country's trade plans, tariffs, import and export policies, and duties, as well as the rapid changes in regulations, and the necessity of taking action to strengthen production and investment, which is currently neglected and slogans prevent attention to the bitter realities, as well as the pressure on the country's managers and their discouragement.
With the defeat of the Iranian national football team against Ireland, a state of despair ensued, and with the appointment of Mr. [Mohsen] Mehralizadeh, [head of the Physical Education Organization], in place of Mr. [Mostafa] Hashemi Taba, the ambiguity was added. Mr. Hashemi Taba denied the announcement of his resignation, which was mentioned in Mr. Khatami's statement, and considered the defeat of Iranian football in the first round of the new appointment a bad start.

Some foreign media outlets have ridiculed Mr. Khatami's remarks at the United Nations about world peace based on justice, and have considered the inconclusiveness of the proposal for the dialogue of civilizations, its sloganeering, the abuse of it by tyrants against their own people, and Mr. Khatami's inability to advance dialogue with his critics inside the country, as proof of his weakness and demand that he not pay attention to his new slogans. They will be able to do so.
