Members of the Parliament’s Agriculture Commission came. They expressed their appreciation for the major measures taken by the Construction Government during the First and Second Development Plans for agriculture, including dam construction, groundwater recharge and watershed management, pressurized irrigation, and major projects such as the Ahvaz sugarcane project and olive cultivation, as well as the promotion of agriculture, self-sufficiency in livestock and poultry products, and the development of the fisheries industry, particularly shrimp farming, and so on. They expressed concern about the slowdown in agricultural development and asked that greater emphasis be placed on agriculture in the country’s overall policies.
In the afternoon, Messrs. Hossein Marashi and Ali Hashemi came to consult about Mr. Karbaschi’s case. They said that the court had informed him that it was requesting a one-month delay. I said that this period was not sufficient; it should be at least several months, so that he would not be detained until the end of the current head of the Judiciary’s term, and we could see what would happen during the next term. They said that multiple letters signed by the country’s managers in support of him should be submitted; they wanted to give them to the media.
