Mr. Mahalati was looking for a solution regarding the Tehran elections. After the martyrdom of Mr. [Mahdi] Shahabadi, it was expected that in the second stage, someone would be elected in his place from among the following people. The parliament objected because Mr. Ahmad Tawakli's name appears in the election list. Others insist on it because of his election and the possibility of Mr. [Asadollah] Badamchian coming. The Guardian Council has given an opinion in favor of these, but the problem is the opposition of the Parliament.
Mr. Mohsen Rezaei consulted about the formation of Iraqi Kurds and Arab units to attack Saddam in Iraq. I agreed. In the evening Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiq Dost called me on the phone and asked me to call Mr. Montazeri to accept Mr. Mohsen Rezaei who is going to Qom. Mr. Montazeri has not had good relations with the IRGC commanders for some time. I slept early at night.
