During the recess, I spoke to the spectators who were from the Revolutionary Committee, the Army's Political-Ideological Organization, and the clerics of West Tehran, and listened to their reports. Then I went to my office. I was tired. The tense confrontations in Parliament had made me even more exhausted. Until the afternoon, I did not receive anyone; I rested, studied reports, and handled administrative work. At three in the afternoon, the public session began. I stayed in the session until five o'clock, then entrusted it to Mr. [Mohammad] Yazdi and returned to my office.
I met with the Norwegian ambassador; he had nothing in particular. I think it was an intelligence-related visit, and he wanted to know our position on the war. I gave appropriate answers to his questions and emphasized our stated demands. Then he visited the public session of Parliament. Mr. Saad Mojbar, the Libyan ambassador, also came to meet me. He had brought me an invitation from the head of the People's Committees to visit Libya during the holidays, and he was concerned about the negative impact of Mr. [Abdulsalam] Jalloud's remarks in India denying the Imamate and the clergy in Islam. He wanted to deny them and suggested that Imam's meeting with Mr. Gaddafi be finalized so that he could come to Iran. He wanted the President to invite him on the Imam's instruction, because he is the leader, not the President.
People from the Army's Advisory Office came and expressed concern about the extensive transfers in the Ground Forces. At night, we had a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council. The military commanders spoke about the situation at the front and the reasons for the failure of Operation Valfajr; the enemy's defensive positions are strong. It was decided that they would prepare and present the final plan within the next few days. I gave an interview to the national radio and television. Mr. Dr. Velayati was upset and complained about the critical letter I had written to the Foreign Ministry's Protocol Office and the criticism I had made.
