Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – June 2, 1987

I arrived at the parliament at half past six in the morning. We did not have anything important in the reports. The American ship Stark and the issues of the Persian Gulf are still at the top of the issues. I stayed in the meeting until half past two. We had some problems in the meeting schedule of the representatives with Imam, so I came to my office to solve it.

In the afternoon, Mrs. [Maryam] Behrouzi came and gave a report on the gatherings of women members of the inter-parliamentary in Nicaragua and complained about the tent being too bulky there. Mr. [Syed Mohammad] Kiavash [Abadan representative] came. He asked for help for the IRGC and Khuzestan garrisons. Mr. Alizadeh came and brought proposals for a mobile refinery and weapons.

Mr. [Ali Mohammad] Besharti [Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs] came and reported on the trip to Africa and the current issues between us and England - that diplomats from both sides have been beaten in both countries.

They came in the era of Ayatollah Khamenei. Discussions were held about the newspaper of the Islamic Republic and organizing the assets of the party after its closure. Together, we went to the joint meeting of the three powers in the Majlis library hall.

In this meeting, the Guardian Council, the Government Board, the Supreme Judicial Council, Ahmad Agha, the Board of Speakers, heads of commissions and the President participated. The meeting lasted five hours. Inflation and the cooperation of the powers and the implementation of the constitution were in order and we all spoke. They were guests of the assembly. I arrived home at half past ten.
