Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – June 16, 1984

I was at home all day and until the evening, my time was spent studying, resting and sleeping. In the evening, the Supervisory Council [Sadasima] had a meeting. The secretaryship of Mr. [Mohsen] Daagu for [Seda and Broadcasting Supervisory Council] was extended. We also had other approvals and provided guidance on the quality of editing Islamic history films, avoiding inciting Shia and Sunni differences.

After breaking the fast, Mr. Colonel Sayad Shirazi came and gave a report on the progress of the preparations for the future operation. He is very satisfied. There have been new circumstances that have required changes in the operation plan. There has been good coordination, friendship and unity between the IRGC and the army that was not there in the past operations, and what reduced the success of the Khyber operation was the same difference, which, Alhamdulillah, is not the case this time.

Basically, one of the factors responsible for my war command was the existence of differences between the commanders of the Corps and the army, and although the differences have decreased, they still exist and are time-consuming and disturbing, and I hope that this problem will be resolved in the future. But in principle, the military structure and the armed forces of the country should be thought of so that discipline and unity of command are serious. This problem also exists in the police forces due to the existence of the city police, the committee, and the gendarmerie and the overlap of duties.
