I stayed at home, reading and resting. Mr Sheikh Qadrollah Alikhani came from Qazvin. I spoke by telephone with Mr Khamenei about the remarks made by the Syrian embassy official.

In the evening, Ahmad-agha came and said that the Imam was unhappy about the restriction placed on [Mr Sayyid Husayn Musavi Tabrizi], the Chief Prosecutor of the Revolution, by the Supreme Judicial Council, and that he supported him and had written something.  I also telephoned Mr Rabani Amlashi [the country's Attorney General] and invited Mr Montazeri. Dr Velayati also spoke on the phone about the companions and the itinerary for the trip to India.

News agencies have reported that Yasser Arafat has signed a document endorsing all UN resolutions, including those calling for the recognition of Israel, but this has not yet been confirmed. Apparently Mr [Mir-Hossein Mousavi], the Prime Minister, has announced a hostile and strong stance on this matter. He has told the Foreign Minister that he and the President should be consulted on the issue.
