Last night, Ayatollah Montazeri's office informed me through the Islamic Movements Unit of the [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] that the counter-revolution apparently had a plot against me at today's Friday Prayer, and therefore security measures had been intensified. Iraqi prisoners of war, guests of the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations, and three thousand Basij volunteers heading to the front had attended the Friday Prayer. I delivered one sermon on atonements and another on the achievements of the Revolution. At noon we had guests; Effat's relatives, and early in the evening my sister Fatemeh and other relatives came.
I also did some reading. I watched the series "The Shah Thief," the news, and the Friday Prayer on television. They informed me that the time of the attack had been set. My brother Mohammad called and said that they wanted to transfer Mr. Gholamhossein Karbaschi from the [Islamic Republic] broadcasting organization to the governorship of Isfahan, and that he himself was not willing.
