Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – August 2, 1982

Early this morning, the family of the martyr [Hossein] Elm al-Huda came to our home to visit the Imam. I made an appointment, and they went to visit the Imam. Today, the families of the martyrs are visiting the Imam. Usually, every week a group of the martyrs' families come to visit the Imam. The gentlemen [Mohammad Baqer Mahi' al-Din] Anvari and Sarfarazi came and spoke about taking action to prevent rumours. It was agreed that a meeting of clerical friends would be held for this purpose.

Mr Mohsen Rafighdoost came. He had heard that Mr [Mir-Hossein] Mousavi was not in favour of his appointment to the Ministry of the Revolutionary Guards. I said that I was not aware of this. A group of female Revolutionary Guards officers, tasked with vetting the women visiting the Imam's residence, came and had some questions. I read the reports. Some non-confidential reports are usually prepared for the system's officials, such as the special bulletins from the Pars News Agency, the Prime Minister's Office, the Revolutionary Guards, the Committee, the Army, the Metropolitan Police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and reports from ambassadors. We usually have miscellaneous reports every day as well.

Today, news was announced of the discovery of twenty Mujahedin-e Khalq team houses, with more than sixty people killed or arrested. We were due to hold a Supreme Defence Council meeting to review the results of Operation Ramadan, but it was postponed until tomorrow due to the late arrival of Mr Mohsen Rezaei and Mr Ali Sayyad Shirazi.
