I woke up with Mr. Sanjaghi's phone ringing. He informed that last night in the east of Basra at half past two in the morning, we have started the attack and some successes have been achieved. At 7:30 in the morning, I spoke with Mr. Rahim Safavi [Deputy Commander of IRGC Ground Forces] in Moghadam camp in my office. He said that we have taken the first embankment of the enemy in the Hamza 1 line and we are moving towards the next line and he was satisfied. He said that we have not made progress in the secondary axis; Later, Mr. [Ali] Shamkhani [deputy commander of the IRGC and commander of the ground forces] said, we have taken about 30 prisoners in that axis. Before the start of the parliament session, I informed the representatives about the operation.

I came to my office. I spoke with Mr. Shamkhani and Mr. Rezaei. The name of the operation was decided to be Karbala 8. [Sidkamal] Kharazi [Chief of the War Propaganda Staff] and [Hasan] Rouhani [Chairman of the Parliament's Defense Affairs Committee] had the same opinion. Mr. Sanjaghi and Dr. Rouhani also came, for war matters. Mr. Rezaei wants artillery for northern operations.

A group of female students came to Tehran. I spoke for them and encouraged them to study. We eliminated meetings in the afternoon to get to war matters. In the evening, I worked in my office until half past seven to prepare for the trip to the south. I gave the necessary recommendations to Mr. [Mahdi [Karoubi] Deputy Speaker of the Majlis] to continue the session on Thursday - which is important because of Article 10 of urban lands. With Mr. Rezaei, Hosni Saadi and Shamkhani, a telephone negotiation was held to arrange the supply of the artillery desired by Mr. Rezaei.

Ahmad Agha said that he spoke with Ayatollah Montazeri on the phone and invited him for a meeting of leaders at his house. He treated me coldly and said I'm sorry.

I went home at night. I packed the suitcase to travel to the front and went to sleep early. I told Mehdi to wake me up at four in the morning. We were supposed to leave after the prayer.
