Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – April 19, 1987

After two weeks of absence, I went to parliament today. Mohsen also came to the parliament with me. We came to the conclusion with him that he should stay in Iran and get his doctorate in Iran. I got the situation on the front from Mr. [Mohsen] Rezaei. There was no significant change. Before the order, I spoke a few words about the amputation of the leg of Mr. [Mehdi] Karroubi's son and the martyrdom of Mr. [Syedkazem] Akrami's son.

There were many referrals from the representatives. I stayed at the public meeting until half past ten. Amendments to the accounting law were proposed to secure the opinion of the Guardian Council. Mr. [Gholamali] Shahraki came to my office and brought a proposal to solve the problem of urban land law in the meeting, which has faced a problem due to Mr. Montazeri's theory.

I had several meetings until noon. In the evening, Mrs. [Maryam] Behrouzi [Tehran's representative in the parliament] came. He consulted about the journey between the councils and gave a report on Zainab's community. A group of members of the Chamber of Commerce came. They complain about the lack of cooperation of the Minister of Commerce.

A group of officials from the Tahakim Vahdat office came. They wanted me to have more relationship with the university and to spend time to strengthen the students' ideology. I was supposed to participate in their seminar. Mr. [Akbar] Turkan [Head of the Defense Industries Organization] came with the delegation. They reported their trip to London, Spain and Argentina and said that they are all inclined to deal in arms; with caution

At night, the heads of the forces were my guests in my office. [Mr. Gholamreza Aghazade] the oil minister came They asked for permission to give one million tons of free oil to Syria. We also consulted about the war. I went home late.
