The directors of the Civil Registry [and the plan for the notification of the national number and postal code] and Dr. [Abbas Ali] Zali, the head of the Statistical Center [of Iran], and Engineer [Saeed] Faeqi, the head of the postal [company] came. Mr. [Mohammadreza] Ayatollahi, [the head of the Civil Registry Organization], reported on the stages of setting up the national number and postal code and said that they are ready to give the last step of the national number, and about 63.5 million people are the population of Iran. He thanked me for laying the foundation for this important work and the support I had to meet the foreign exchange needs for their computer system. I also talked about the importance of statistics, national numbers, and postal codes in planning and providing services to the people, and saving and accuracy of action.  

 Dr. [Abdullah] Jasbi, [the president of the Islamic Azad University] came. He reported on the Islamic Azad University, the establishment of the new party, and the calculations of the Islamic Republic Party, and said that two opposing currents are trying to infiltrate the Islamic Azad University, like the state universities.

In the evening, the officials, the Friday prayer leader, the representative of the neighborhoods, and the family of the martyr [Fazlullah] Mahallati, [the Imam's representative in the Revolutionary Guards] came. They invited me to participate in the inauguration of the congress that they wanted to hold in the neighborhoods on the anniversary of his martyrdom and gave me a report on the situation in the city.

The media is following the issue of the trial of the representatives in order to put pressure on the judiciary, and the foreign media are raising the issue of Mr. [Seyyed] Hashemi Shahroudi's Iraqiness, and consequently, the parliamentarians have said that they want to investigate and investigate people who have obtained birth certificates from other countries in Iran and have been appointed to important positions in violation of the law, and they consider Mr. Hashemi Shahroudi to be one of them.

 In Argentina, as the insurgency continues, the new interim government has collapsed, and Pakistan has taken a weak position to appease India, the leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba and a group of its leaders. The United States occasionally bombs parts of Afghanistan to prove the need for its forces to stay, and today 107 people have been killed in the bombing of the village of Qala [Niazi in Paktia province], and the weak Afghan government does not dare to seriously oppose.
