Mohammad Hashemi's report quoting Kamal Kharrazi on Saddam Hussein's reaction to the appointment of Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi as Head of the Judiciary

I worked in the office of the palace until the evening. I usually read a number of bulletins and reports that take a lot of time to read and accumulate throughout the week, on Thursdays and Fridays. Today, the pamphlet related to the establishment of the religious scientific city of Qom was one of them.  

 At night, Mr. [Mohammad Hassan] Rahimian, the head of the Martyr's Foundation, and their fathers, brothers, and children came. They expressed their satisfaction with the appointment of Mr. [Mohammad Taqi] the Leader as the deputy of the Friday Imam of Isfahan and said that Mr. [Seyyed Jalaluddin] Taheri has become worn out and incapacitated.  

Mr. Rahimian said that a few months ago he traveled to Nogh [Rafsanjan] and went to the house of his mother and sister Tayyibeh and it was very interesting to him and said that when he was serving the Imam in Najaf, he gradually became interested in the Imam with Mr. [Seyyed Mahmoud] Hashemi Shahroudi, [Head of the Judiciary], and Mr. Shahroudi, who was a student of the martyr [Seyyed Mohammad Baqir] Sadr, and that Mr. [Seyyed Ali Akbar] Mohtashami said today in the Majlis that he opposed the Imam He said that the Martyr Foundation has a budget deficit of 46 billion tomans this year.  

In the foreign media, the debate continued whether Mr. Hashemi Shahroudi was Iranian or Iraqi and that 60 deputies [of the Sixth Majlis] were tainted with financial corruption. In the American radio and the National Counter-Revolutionary Television of Iran, Mr. Shahroudi was quoted by [Alireza] Nourizadeh, a London-based journalist, as saying that Mr. Shahroudi was not a copy of his birth certificate.

 Akhavi Mohammad said that Mr. [Mohammad] Atrian quoted [Foreign Minister] Mr. [Kamal] Kharrazi in a meeting with Saddam, when he objected to Iraq for giving space to the hypocrites, Saddam replied that you have appointed Mr. Hashemi Shahroudi as the head of the judiciary and added that he and his like-minded people were in Iraqi prisons and that Iraq had made a deal with Britain He has released him and allowed him to leave Iraq.I said, "It is unlikely that the point about the deal with the United Kingdom is correct." Such insults are also broadcast in foreign media.
