Report by Mohsen, CEO of Metro, on the agreement with China for financing metro development and that the Ministry of Oil considers a 10-cent subsidy per trip for fuel savings to repay China's financing

Bin Laden's statement and denial of involvement in the U.S. explosions

Full diary entry:

[Today was a holiday.] I was at home. Relatives came to visit for Imam Ali’s (a.s.) birthday celebration. Mohsen, [Chairman of the Board and CEO of Metro], said that Metro has reached an agreement with China for financing the metro's development. For each kilometer, with complete equipment and a four-minute headway between trains, about $30 million, with 51% local manufacturing, is considered. He is pursuing with the Ministry of Oil to provide a 10-cent subsidy per trip for fuel savings, which will secure the repayment of China's financing.

A report from Spanish sources was broadcast that the attack on Afghanistan is expected to start today, but it hasn't been confirmed. It's unclear when and how the U.S. operations will begin. The Taliban say they have Osama bin Laden [leader of al-Qaeda] in their custody, but the U.S. has stated that they don't believe it. Today in Peshawar, Pakistan, a group of Afghans has formed under the name of "National Solidarity," supporting Zahir Shah and declaring their goal to be unity, peace, and prosperity in Afghanistan. It's clear that with U.S. support, they aim to gather the people around Zahir Shah. Intense negotiations are currently underway in Italy with Zahir Shah, and the Northern Alliance is also negotiating with them. Of course, [Burhanuddin] Rabbani, [President of the Mujahideen Government], and Mullah Omar, [Taliban leader], have both said that Zahir Shah does not have the competence or power to govern Afghanistan.

Bin Laden, [leader of al-Qaeda], has issued a statement denying involvement in the U.S. explosions and has vowed retaliation if the U.S. attacks. The Taliban have also declared that the U.S. will not succeed in Afghanistan, and even if the Taliban fall, the Afghan people will cripple the U.S. like they did with the Soviet Union. A military exercise by Oman and the U.K. has started in the Arabian Sea, and under the pretext of a major exercise, dozens of British warships and aircraft have arrived in the region.

Tonight, it was announced that the Northern Alliance's negotiations with Zahir Shah in Italy have concluded successfully, and an agreement has been reached to form a Supreme Council for National Unity, followed by the formation of a Loya Jirga [= Grand Assembly] to elect Afghanistan's leader. This is, of course, connected to the National Solidarity group formed today in Peshawar, Pakistan. It seems that the U.S., through psychological warfare and the appearance of war, is trying to create a replacement for the Taliban.

It has been announced that tomorrow, extremist Jews will lay the cornerstone of the Temple of Solomon at the Temple Mount. An explosion occurred in West Jerusalem, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for it.
