Mr. [Ali] Abdollahian, [Deputy of the Chamber of Commerce] came. He said that from Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Khatami's talks, [the President] and the reformists it is evident that they are seeking adventures and will create turmoil to eliminate the oversight of the [Guardian Council] and enhance presidential powers, and he said that independent experts believe that no one but you can put an end to this situation. I replied that if the construction policy is prioritized, I will help, but I will not accept executive responsibility. Mr. [Hossein] Entezami, CEO of Jam-e Jam newspaper, came to discuss the time and manner of publishing my memoirs from 1362 [= Calm and Challenge] and said that the circulation of Jam-e Jam newspaper is higher than all other newspapers, yet it is still operating at a loss.
