When Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani sat down with a CNN correspondent in August 1995 to polish the relations between Iran and the United States

When Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani sat down with a CNN correspondent in August 1995 to polish the relations between Iran and the United States,
The Mojahedin Organization of the Islamic Revolution of Iran wrote in the Asr-e Ma newspaper:

"Such interviews actually embarrass those who seek open doors, practical formulas, and direct negotiation mechanisms for the slightest excuse."

They even criticized Hashemi's sitting in front of Christiane Amanpour.

"He is a Turkish citizen of Iran, converted to Christianity, comes from a counter-revolutionary family, and appeared in front of the president, who is a clerical figure, with an abnormal delegation, which has adverse effects among Iranian families."

Two years later, Seyyed Mohammad Khatami sat in front of Christiane Amanpour and talked about détente with the United States, and the Mojahedin Organization of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, which had supported him, interpreted that such interviews would help turn the United States from an active enemy to a passive one.
