Abbas Palizdar, the former secretary of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, told Iran Watch about the case of the late Hashemi Shahroudi:
Ayatollah Khazali had spoken to the Supreme Leader in the meeting. After he had read the report, they had apparently asked Mr. Shahroudi to attend the same meeting. Mr. Shahrudi had said, "We have read this report and we are in the process of it." Dismiss me from my position and appoint someone else as the head of the judiciary and ask him to do so, I can't deal with them."
Was Mr. Shahroudi's name on the list?
Yes, the Moteh gold mine in Isfahan and other places served his family. He had told them that your deputies were on the list, and he had also said that they were also connected to the ulema and that I could not deal with them. In any case, Mr. Shahroudi had asked, "Is the report correct?" and Mr. Shahroudi had said, "At least 80 to 85 percent of the report is correct."
Who narrated the words to you?
Ayatollah Khazali narrated. It was not just narration. Mr. Khazali had said to Shahroudi, "Then specify this 10 to 15 percent for me, I will deal with it." Tell me who the 10 or 15 percent that you say is wrong, and leave the rest to me."
