صادق زیباکلام از محاکمه‌اش برای یادداشت «کیان و قایق کوچکش» خبر داد

The text of Sadegh Zibakalam's note was as follows:

One of the very distressing incidents of the recent protests was the tragic death of 8-year-old Kian Pirfalak in late November in Izeh County. He was traveling in a car with his family when their vehicle was shot at. Kian was killed, and his father was severely injured. The officials attributed the incident to terrorists who had come from Azerbaijan to Iran, and they also announced the arrest of these terrorists. Mr. Mohsen Rezaei also mentioned that some of the terrorists were caught in Makou during their return.

The problem began when Kian's mother's account of the incident did not match the officials' narrative. Therefore, the question that arose was: what exactly happened in Izeh? And what was the reason for shooting at that car? If terrorists were involved, there would be little room for questioning. But if the shooting was carried out by domestic agents, what could their motive and reason have been? Was it a case of mistaken identity, or were there other reasons for shooting at a regular passenger car in such a manner? Aside from pointing fingers at terrorists, the officials have not provided any further explanation about the incident.

The newspaper "Jahan-e Sanat" contacted me and said they were preparing a report about the shooting and wanted to conduct an interview with me. I answered their questions over the phone, and they published it as an article. One of the rumors circulating at the time was whether some officers might have been taking medications that made shooting at people seem normal to them. The reporter asked me about this, and I replied that I had heard such a claim.

This note was met with objections from the respectable police force, leading the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to order the closure of the newspaper and to file a complaint against me and Dr. Saadi, the editor-in-chief of "Jahan-e Sanat," with the judiciary, resulting in a trial on January 5. Fortunately, the case is being heard in the general court rather than the revolutionary courts.
