Louise Haigh, the UK Transport Minister, has resigned after it was revealed that she was convicted in 2013 for falsely reporting her mobile phone stolen to the police. She had informed the police that her phone was stolen, only to later discover it was at her home.

 This incident occurred before her entry into Parliament, leading to a conditional pardon at the time. This marks the first resignation in Keir Starmer’s cabinet.
