Carlina was sentenced to 12 years in prison last year for treason. He holds dual citizenship - Russia and the United States - and has been involved in providing financial assistance to Ukraine.

According to investigators, Karalina sent money to the Ukrainian military to buy tactical medical equipment, equipment, weapons and ammunition.
