Mahsa Ghorbani, Iran's international football referee, who was arrested 40 days ago in the transit hall of Copenhagen airport in Denmark

Mahsa Ghorbani, Iran's international football referee, who was arrested 40 days ago in the transit hall of Copenhagen Airport in Denmark, was released yesterday after being acquitted of the charge of forging documents.

The victim, who he said was planning to travel to Edinburgh to seek asylum, was detained at Copenhagen airport on December 23. He was charged with forging a Schengen visa. However, he explained in court that he received the visa in Turkey in exchange for payment to an intermediary.

The local Danish newspaper Extrabladet reported that Mahsa Ghorbani had left Iran and stayed in Turkey for a while due to some issues she did not want to talk about. At the time of his arrest, he was in the transit hall of Copenhagen Airport and was planning to travel to Scotland, but was arrested on charges of forging documents. After the trial, the Danish court acquitted him of the charge and released him.

The charge of forgery of the document against the victim was due to a stamp that was inserted in her passport. This stamp was related to residence in Germany, which was later found to be a forgery. This led to him being prosecuted in Denmark.
