The results of two large studies of stroke incidence indicate that the age of stroke onset in Iran is about 10 years lower than the global average. The 10-year difference in the average age of stroke in the country from the global average is a worrying point and requires more efforts by the medical staff. The average age of stroke in the world is about 75-80 years and the average age of stroke in the country is about 65-70 years.
Numerous studies on stroke mortality are available in the world and Iran. Stroke is the second to fifth leading cause of death in different countries and is one of the leading causes of disability.
