Ismail Gerami-Moqaddam, in an interview with the newspaper Etemad, spoke about the vision problems of Sedigheh Voseghi while in detention. Here are some key parts of the conversation:
"The same law that states Voseghi has committed a crime and must be tried in a competent court explicitly says that individuals with disabilities, who are physically unable to endure punishment, should be treated differently. According to her family, Ms. Voseghi has lost her central vision over the past 40 days.
It should not be forgotten that the responsibility for Ms. Voseghi's detention, given the risks she faces, lies with the prison authorities and judicial officials. From the perspectives of human rights and the constitution, as well as Islamic compassion and Sharia law, her detention is certainly contrary to these principles, and she must be released
