Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi is the field commander and currently the undisputed key player in the Islamic Republic; however, since the onset of the war, he has not issued any public statements or made even a telephonic appearance on radio or television to clarify the policies of the country’s person in charge.

On the other hand, the third leader of the Islamic Republic, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, has not yet publicly issued the appointment decrees for the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the new Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—despite Ahmad Vahidi having full authority—and other senior commanders whose appointments depend on his direct order.

Although it is wartime and under special military conditions, these actions are highly significant and warrant reflection; one must remain patient to see how events unfold.

Now, in the most sensitive period of the Islamic Republic and in the absence of senior decision-making commanders of the armed forces, Sardar Ahmad Vahidi is in charge of managing affairs and field command.
