Unfortunately, in the previous and current executive regulations of prisons, phone calls and face-to-face private visits are considered privileges rather than rights.

The only right for a newly imprisoned individual, unless restricted in writing by judicial authorities, is a weekly 20-minute cabin visit. Of course, you are more aware than anyone of the many hardships endured during various prison terms.

Although the new Islamic Penal Code has undergone some changes, it still regards even conditional release and other foundational institutions as privileges, as stated in Chapter Six, from Article 46 onward.

The greatest innovation of the new law is found in Article 520 of the new Criminal Procedure Code, which considers leave a right of the convict (whether imprisoned or exiled). Despite multiple advisory opinions from the Legal Department of the Judiciary recognizing it as a right, it is sometimes withheld for various reasons, including the interpretation and justification provided in the opening of this article, "subject to adherence to the rules and regulations of the prison and participation in reformative and educational programs and obtaining necessary credits."

I hope that arrangements will soon be made for children to hear their mother's voice.
