شهریار حیدری در گفت‌وگو با «شرق»: پیوستن به FATF دشوار نیست

With the change in the government's face and policy, the issue of Iran's accession to the FATF has become serious again. Shahryar Heidari, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, spoke to Shargh about this issue and said that it is not very difficult to follow this path.

A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said: "The political games of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, aimed at serving the interests of the enemies of the Iranian nation, will not only fail to assist them in achieving their hostile objectives, but will also make the Islamic Republic of Iran more determined to continue its path in securing what it believes is the right of its people." Ruhollah Najabat, in an interview with ISNA, referred to the political resolution of the Board of Governors against Iran, stating: "Securing the country's interests at the international level is the main priority of the government and the parliament, which includes the development of the peaceful nuclear program and benefiting from its advantages."

He added: "The Islamic Republic has consistently pursued a path of interaction and trust-building with relevant international authorities in this direction over the past years. This path will continue as long as the interests of the nation are not compromised."

Najabat continued: "The political games of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, aimed at serving the interests of the enemies of the Iranian nation, will not only fail to assist them in achieving their hostile objectives, but will also make the Islamic Republic of Iran more determined to secure what it believes is the right of its people, leading to a new level of technical actions in peaceful nuclear fields."

The representative of Shiraz in the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated: "The fact that agency officials allow the credibility of this international organization to be misused, despite the complete cooperation of the Islamic Republic with the requests of the technical parties involved in the Iranian nuclear case, raises serious questions about the agency's position and its competencies." He further emphasized: "The approval of a non-consensual resolution regarding Iran's peaceful nuclear program, despite the Islamic Republic's longstanding commitment to interacting with international legal bodies, including the IAEA, and continuing and enhancing cooperation to resolve outstanding issues, is an unconstructive action."

Najabat added: "Despite the visit of the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency to Tehran and the clarification of the Islamic Republic's intention to move towards resolving the ambiguities with the agency, the issuance of a biased resolution will challenge the interactions between Iran and the agency, as cooperation is a two-way path."

He noted: "Unfortunately, the three European countries and the United States pursued the approval of a political resolution that reflects their hostile approach. This action drives the Islamic Republic towards reconsidering its model of engagement with other parties that behave unfairly."

This member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated: "Cooperation with international organizations cannot and should not contradict national interests, and the acceptance of certain limitations for membership and cooperation with such organizations makes sense in exchange for achieving mutual benefits. Reducing the level of cooperation to a minimum and mandatory level initially, and if the balance of benefits does not return, stopping additional attachments, and ultimately withdrawing from the NPT could be steps forward for Iran."
