The crash of the Ilyushin (Il-76) plane of the Revolutionary Guards was a flight from Zahedan to Kerman, which had 257 passengers and 18 crew members, and crashed 35 kilometers south of Kerman near the village of Sirch.

All 257 people on board were killed in the crash.

The passengers of this plane were a group of personnel of the 41st Division of Sarallah who were sent to Kerman on a mission.

This accident is considered the second largest aviation accident in the history of Iran. The cause of the accident was officially announced as bad weather and unstable weather conditions.

It was also said that the number of passengers on this flight was higher than the capacity of the plane.

Of course, 14 years after this incident, General Raufinejad, the commander of the 41st Division of Sarallah and the Southeast Operational Headquarters at the time, claimed in an interview that:

"The passengers of this plane, all of whom were members of the IRGC, had been sent to Zahedan in order to prepare Sistan and Baluchestan province for Ayatollah Khamenei's visit and were supposed to return to Kerman during the two-day Eid Ghadir holiday."
