Lifting the restriction of Mr. Rouhani

During Mr. Khatami's consultation, I reached Ayatollah Shabiri Zanjani to convey a message from Mr. Khatami. In Mr. Shabiri's office, I saw Mr. Seyed Mehdi Rouhani, the cousin of Mr. Seyed Sadegh Rouhani. Mr. Seyyed Mehdi Rouhani was the son of Sayyed Abolhasan Rouhani and was from a family called Hawza, and he was the debater of Mr. Shabiri. Mr. Mirza Ali Mianji was also there.

In that meeting, Mr. Rouhani told me: I wanted to take advantage of your presence here and tell you something about our cousin.

I said: Please.

He said: You know that Mr. Seyyed Sadegh Rouhani has been under house arrest for many years. If there was a problem, it is over now. Please tell Mr. Khatami if it is possible for him to take action to remove his detention. Did they release Mr. Montazeri, did something happen? Especially since our cousin is very old and it is not right for him to be in such a situation in his old age.

Mr. Seyyed Sadegh Rouhani was one of the scholars who criticized the mention of Mr. Montazeri's name as an authority and did not shy away from expressing this issue publicly. For this reason, he was placed under house arrest during the Imam's time.

I said to Mr. Rouhani: I will definitely look into this issue and God willing, it will be fixed.

After returning from Qom, I raised the issue with Mr. Khatami, and he confirmed this issue in all its meaning, on Monday of the same week, when he went to meet the leadership, he raised the same issue with him, and the agreement of the leadership, Mr. Seyyed Sadiq Rouhani. They were freed from confinement.
