Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's continued silence in the face of the ongoing war in the region has angered some conservative circles and media.
I don't think that such reactions will break Mr. Ahmadinejad's silence, because he says to himself: "Am I either an important and influential person or am I not? If I am, then why am I not allowed to be active in the presidential and parliamentary elections, or to freely express my views on the issues that interest me? And if I am not important and influential, what is the logic of expecting me to take a position on a few specific and selected issues?"
I have usually been critical and opposed to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's political and ideological approach, but in this particular case, his hypothetical argument is not misguided.
