Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf was recently appointed as the special representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran for China affairs following a proposal by the president and approval by Mojtaba Khamenei.

Given the nature of Ghalibaf’s appointment, this position differs from previous representatives in terms of the level of authority and powers.

Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli had previously served as the president’s representative for China affairs, while Ali Larijani had been active as the special representative of the former Leader of the Islamic Republic on China-related matters.
