Only eleven days after the entry of Soviet and British forces into Iran, the country was at one of the most critical junctures of its contemporary history.

Reza Shah's army had collapsed against the Allied forces, and the government of Ali Mansour had also fallen. Under these conditions, Mohammad Ali Foroughi was tasked with forming a new government, and intense negotiations were underway to resolve the crisis and determine the future of the monarchy.

Ultimately, Reza Shah was forced to abdicate, and the throne was transferred to his son, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
