The International Federation of Journalists has published a report on violations of freedom of expression and the repression of journalists and media in Iran during the year following the protests that began in September 2022.

According to this report, since the onset of widespread protests in Iran, at least 100 journalists have been arrested and imprisoned, with many facing long-term sentences or being forced to leave their jobs.  

The report also states that at least 8 media outlets have faced restrictions such as confiscation, suspension, closure, or license cancellation due to pressure from security and governmental institutions.  

Based on this report, more than 21 journalists have been sentenced to prison on charges such as propaganda against the regime and actions against national security.  

Another section of the report examines the summoning of journalists to the prosecutor's office, noting that judicial and security officials have summoned at least 110 journalists in the past year.  

The report concludes by stating that at least 20 journalists have emigrated due to arrest, summons, and long-term sentences.
