Today, Mohammadreza Ramadan, the head of the Union of Audio-Visual Device Sellers, Mobile Phones, and Accessories of Tehran, announced that no decision has been made regarding the import of the iPhone 14, and the import of this phone is prohibited.

However, even if the revolutionary government intends to justify the lack of decision-making and the unresolved issue of iPhone 14 registration by citing Ayatollah Khamenei’s previous remarks during the previous administration, as I wrote in my previous note on Abdi Media, this matter must be clearly and transparently communicated to the public so that they know where they stand.

Furthermore, the law on the dissemination of information mandates that matters affecting the public must be made known prior to any decisions or actions being taken.

Moreover, even if the prohibition is based on Ayatollah Khamenei’s stance, the revolutionary government officials should not have initially registered traveler-brought phones in the customs system, allowed payment of customs duties, and then denied activation codes in the Hamta system.

This action, which imposes significant losses on buyers of such phones and leads to their entry into the country, is against Islamic law, ethics, and the explicit letter of the law.
