Behzad Nabavi: The opportunity to meet Khatami and Obama at the United Nations at that time was in our favor/ No revolution has survived; Except the Chinese revolution!

  Behzad Nabavi, a reformist political activist and member of the Islamic Revolution Mojahedin Organization, said:

Strategy can change in time and place, without changing ideology.  We have always considered America as an imperialist government and we still have such a view, but the way of dealing with this government can be different.

I have heard that when Mr. Khatami went to the United Nations, Obama tried hard to meet him;  It has even been said that Obama wanted to shake his hand as a sign of greeting, but Mr. Khatami somehow avoided this meeting.  I believe that time was a good opportunity to negotiate with America and in our interest.  Therefore, in those circumstances, there was no problem in negotiating and even normalizing relations with America./Tabnak
