The Omanis have informed the United States of the messages they have received from the Iranians and will deliver Iran's letter to the White House in the coming days.
The source did not provide details about the content of Iran's response, and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Oman has played a key role in mediating between the United States and Iran under the Obama and Biden administrations.
Several rounds of indirect talks between Biden's advisers and Iranian officials have been held in Oman. The talks have focused mainly on regional issues and "hostages" but have not led to serious negotiations on the nuclear program.
