Abbas Abdi, a reformist political activist, wrote in the Etemad newspaper:

Existing studies show that the average annual salary of our judges is about 1.5 times higher than the average annual income of the Iranian society. Meanwhile, in many other countries, this ratio is much higher.Preserving the dignity of judges is essential for maintaining the credibility of the judiciary and justice. As long as the independence and economic dignity of judges are not ensured, judicial independence will remain merely a beautiful term in legal texts.
