Shelling of Abadan and the use of chemical weapons in the Khorramshahr region

On August 29, 1982, the Iran-Iraq War was still raging on the southern and western fronts.

On this day, Abadan and its surrounding areas were shelled, and according to war chronologies, a number of people were killed or wounded.

Reports also indicated the poisoning of Iranian forces in the general area of Khorramshahr due to the firing of a chemical shell by Iraq.

In the northwest of the country, clashes between Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces and armed groups continued. This day was also marked by a meeting between the Prime Minister and members of the cabinet with Imam Khomeini, coinciding with the first anniversary of the killings of Mohammad-Ali Rajai and Mohammad-Javad Bahonar.
