The story of the seizure of "Salam" newspaper from July 5, 1999 and the headline "Saeed Eslami has proposed to amend the press law" did not start. This headline made an excuse. In January 1999, a short article was published in Salam, which reported that, unfortunately, "domestic security agents" were involved in serial murders. The media power of this newspaper was such that in the afternoon of the same day, the Ministry of Information announced and accepted that the arbitrary colleagues of this ministry had committed a crime.
A few days before that, Hossein Shariatmadari attributed the murders of Forohars to their friends and considered the mission of the murders to be the work of the CIA and the Pentagon. They are still there and writing and doing proud, but Salaam only lived another 6 months.
In those days, we didn't believe that Salam would be closed, but now I wonder how it was tolerated for another six months! On the same day, one of the old journalists told me: if the only thing he had done to say hello was the short article on January 5, 1999, it would have been a great honor for him. An article that is not remembered by many people, but it still causes anger to some after 25 years!
