Before the public session, I reviewed the reports. In today's public session, I spoke about the three-week parliamentary recess and the representatives' trip to Mecca, and, in light of the Imam's remarks in his meeting with the representatives, I explained the reasons for this recess. Two or three bills were passed. During the recess, I spoke to the spectators. At noon, I also had several meetings. In the afternoon, I met with Mr. [Abdolhamid] Maadi-Khah, the head of the Islamic Republic Party in Qom. He had some criticisms. We held a meeting of the party's Central Council. We spent the time on the two factions criticizing each other. Mr. Engineer [Mir-Hossein] Mousavi and Mr. [Masih] Mohajeri spoke on one side, and Mr. [Asadollah] Badamchian and Mr. [Saeed] Amani spoke on the other.

We held a consultative meeting with Mr. Khamenei and the Prime Minister. It was decided that the Prime Minister would pursue getting one unit of the Bushehr nuclear power plant up and running. Recently, by court order, the Germans have been required to hand over the machinery. We watched part of the film of the trial of Mr. [Sadegh] Qotbzadeh, [Mohammad Javad] Manaqebi, [Seyyed Mehdi] Mahdavi, [Abdolreza] Hejazi, and [Ahmad] Abbasi. For consultation and to give an opinion on whether permission should be granted to broadcast them, I went to Parliament late at night and slept there.
