Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – September 27, 1989

I came to my office at half past seven in the morning. I did the work until nine o'clock. Mr. [Hamid] Mirzadeh [Executive Vice President] came for the executive affairs of the country, reconstruction and Basij Economic Headquarters. I went to Tehran University and participated in the ceremony of the beginning of the academic year. I gave awards to distinguished professors and students. I gave a speech. I returned to my office.

Mr. [Ali] Jannati came. He gave the report of the trip to China and that the leaders of China have decided to resist the possibility of economic blockade by the Westerners due to the suppression of the supporters of democracy, and consider their work to be similar to Iran's successful experience in breaking the Western blockade. He promised to help a mosque in China that I would pay.

Asr Mohsen [President's Special Inspector General] came. gave the inspection report of Mehrabad airport. The management situation is bad and passengers are very annoyed and delayed in going back and forth.

I attended the meeting of the government board. Comments are over. Then we had a meeting with [Mr. Vahaji, Kalantari, Fallahian, Nouri and Shoushtari] Ministers of Commerce, Agriculture, Information, Country and Justice. We discussed and decided on the plan to fight the high price of potatoes and onions.

I came to my office. [Mr. Seyyed Mohammad Mirmohammadi] the head of the office came to explain and approve the chart of the office. I did some work and went home. Ashikh Mohammad Hashemian was our guest. Recently, he was dismissed from the position of Rafsanjan's head of justice, and he is angry. He wants me to tell the leadership to be compensated; I wanted him to return to Rafsanjan and not pay attention to this side.
