At 7:30 in the morning, we went to Shahid Rajaei High School on Mujahidan Street with [Mr. Mohammad Ali Najafi] the Minister of Education to participate in the ceremony of the beginning of the school year. At eight in the morning, I rang the school bell and spoke to the students. I went among them and conducted an interview.

I dealt with education issues in the school office. From there, I went to a girls' school on Palestine Street. I visited two classes and talked with the principal and one of the teachers and the students. On the way, the minister explained about the current work. The distribution of stationery, aprons, desks, benches, and textbooks is better than last year.

I came to my office. Mr. [Abulfazl] Tawakli [Bina], the adviser [of the president] came. They talked about the follow-up issues of price control, trade unions' problems with the government, tax collection, export and import problems, etc.

Dr. [Hasan] Habibi came for current executive affairs and approval of the [organizational] chart of the first vice [president]. I spoke with Mr. [Hussein] Mahluji [Minister of Mines and Metals] about the pursuit of gold mining and Mr. [Syed Mohammad Mousavi] Khoiniha to take over the Strategic Research Center.

Mr. Mukhtar Kalantari [deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Committees] came. He gave a report on the performance of the fight against narcotics and demanded my more attention and defended the Islamic Revolution Committee against the accusation of the existence of opposition to the leadership there.

[Dr. Ayoub Hamid, head of the executive committee and] members of Amal Lebanon [Movement] came to congratulate the president and ask for help. Mr. [Hossein] Sadeghi, our new ambassador in Kuwait, came there to say goodbye and take a line with the issues. I worked in my office until eight o'clock.

The issue of occupying the building that was supposed to be used by female students of Islamic Azad University as a dormitory and the dispute between this university and the Ministry of Science took some time and was not resolved in the end. I went home at night. I had dinner and watched part of the [Japanese] series Oshin [= Years away from home] and slept.
