Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – September 20, 1986

I was at home. I read the reports. Before noon, Mr. Ahmad Agha and Mr. Ray Shahri came. Mr. Ray Shahri said that Ayatollah Montazeri is upset with the discovery and arrest of Seyyed Mahdi Hashemi's secret center and equipment and says that they need these things for the movement's work. But Mr. Ray Shahri did not accept that explosive materials, government secret documents, and forgery tools are necessary for this, while the movements themselves were not entrusted to him.

In addition, Ayatollah Montazeri has considered this arrest to be completely wrong with the reference of me and Ahmad Agha. Imam is in the process. He also brought a tape of [Mr. Ahmed Kashani], a representative of Natanz, who made statements against the Imam's recent statements in support of the government and criticism of Risalat newspaper. It was decided to raise the first issue in the meeting of leaders.

In the evening, two officials from the Ministry of Information came. The results of the effort to discover and hit the [organization] of the devotees [of the people] brought the majority. To a large extent, they have been recognized and their leaders have been arrested and confessed and surrendered. Most of them have cut and cooperate. They asked for opinions about the quality of dealing with ordinary people, who are many. It was decided to be discussed in the meeting of the heads of forces. In addition, they said that one of the high-ranking officers of the ground forces is the brother of one of the cadres of the Central Committee [Organization of Loyalists of Iran's People's Branch] of the majority, and he himself has a history of cooperation with them, that we should make a decision.
